Experience Japanese Traditional Crafts – Kiso Hinoki Kumiko Coaster and Oshiki Making Experience
We will be hosting an activity in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City,where you can experience traditional Japanese woodworking techniques,with the instructor being a craftsman from Iwata Sanpo Seisakusho Co., Ltd., a company that makes sacred objects used in shrine festivals.
You can choose to either make a kumiko coaster, which applies the kumiko technique of combining grooved pieces of wood to create shapes without using nails or other metal fittings, or make an oshiki (table tray) using the traditional technique of bending wood.
